This year, the Alaska Youth Choir celebrated its 15th anniversary as a nonprofit organization in Juneau. Since its inception in 1994, under the artistic direction of Bob Norman, the choir has continued to provide a program that promotes excellence in choral singing for Juneau youth in addition to supporting and supplementing the music programs offered in the Juneau School District.
The AYC program strives to develop and encourage lifelong learning, enjoyment and love of music in young people. It offers a broad repertoire of sacred and secular music from different cultures, styles, and historical periods; and develops musicianship through vocal training, music theory, and performance.
We would like to sincerely thank the community of Juneau, arts organizations, businesses, the Akiyama family and AYC families past and present who have supported and contributed in one way or another to the AYC organization. We look forward to celebrating our 20th year anniversary in 2014 with a Children's Choir Festival in Juneau.
If you are interested in auditioning for AYC, please contact Heather Miller the Choir Administrator at 790-3310 or firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an appointment.
