NORTH POLE - A veteran lawmaker is giving up his seat in the state Senate for a new job in Gov. Sean Parnell's administration.
State Sen. Gene Therriault, a Republican from North Pole, announced Friday he will become a senior policy adviser on Alaska energy issues.
He served in the House of Representatives from 1992 until 2000, when he was first elected to a Senate seat.
Therriault was Senate president for one term, and was the Republican minority leader.
