FAIRBANKS - The man who pulled a gun on a University of Alaska Fairbanks officer a year ago has been sentenced to six years in prison.
Robert Gentleman, 30, pleaded guilty to felony assault and weapons charges associated with the incident.
The sentencing caps a long court saga for Gentleman, a man accused of being involved in police escapes, high-speed chases and a four-hour standoff in East Fairbanks.
The sentence was a part of a plea agreement. In return for his guilty plea, authorities dropped charges of probation violations, criminal mischief, drug possession, misdemeanor assault and other traffic crimes.
Gentleman said he regrets the decisions that put him behind bars and that he has the potential to change.
