JUNEAU - The Alaska Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the Alaska Science Teachers Association will host the Alaska State Math and Science Conference Oct. 14-17 in Juneau.
In celebration of the National Science Foundation's Year of Astronomy, the event will start with a community presentation by Dr. Stephen Maran, author of "Astronomy for Dummies."
Other speakers include state Education Commissioner Larry LeDoux, Dr. Kenneth Wesson, a distinguished neuroscientist, on teaching with the brain in mind and Dr. David Gallo, an oceanographer from the Woods Hole Institute.
The session will be filled with breakout sessions appropriate for K-12 teachers.
