ANCHORAGE - The Coast Guard said three adults and a 12-year-old were rescued from a 42-foot commercial fishing boat sinking in Prince William Sound.

The Nahanni, a purse seiener based in Juneau, grounded Saturday night a mile south of Chenega Bay, a village on Evans Island.

The boat's bilge pump failed when it began taking on water.

A bilge pump was sent over from a fish hatchery at the village but the crew couldn't make it work.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Sara Francis said the crew of the Sea Warrior rescued the four on the boat and brought them to Chenega Bay.

The Nahanni rolled on its side and was submerged Sunday.
