Longtime Juneau resident Maxine May Race, 83, died Aug. 23, 2004, at the Juneau Pioneers Home.
She was born in Missoula, Mont., to Frank and Marie O'Donnell. Her father was an engineer with the Alaska Railroad. She attended high school in Anchorage and attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks. She married William Race, who was the son of Harry Race, a pioneer Alaska pharmacist in Nyac. She was employed as a teacher and an office administrator.
Her family said she enjoyed spending time with her family and being involved in her many social clubs.
She is survived by sons, Mike Race and Gerald (Pam) Race; grandchildren, Patrick Race, William Race, Christy (Josh) Simonson, Marta (Dan) Pardee, Katie Race and Kim (Scott) Race Estes.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, at Alaska Memorial Park. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at the Juneau Pioneers Home. Flowers can be sent to Juneau Pioneers Home.
