KENAI - A group on the Kenai Peninsula is investigating how to build a sports dome.
The group has discussed constructing a facility open year-round and big enough to accommodate soccer, track, baseball, football, lacrosse and other sports, plus bleachers.
The 25 residents envision a tent sports dome based on technology already used in Anchorage and other Alaska communities.
The dome tent would enclose a track and playing field covered with artificial turf. It would be located somewhere on the central peninsula.
No money has been acquired for construction of the project, but the concept won the support of the Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly last week.
