KODIAK - An Alaska fishing boat ran into trouble but found an opportune place to do so.

The 42-foot Hail Mary ran aground on the shore of the nation's largest Coast Guard base in Kodiak.

Coast Guard spokeswoman Sara Francis said the crew of the seiner radioed in at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday that the boat had gone aground on Nyman Peninsula in Women's Bay and was taking on water. A Coast Guard helicopter and a small boat from the agency's Aids to Navigation Team were nearby.

The Coast Guard boat arrived within 10 minutes and delivered a pump.

The Hail Mary's crew found a hole in the hull and patched it with plugs. The seiner was refloated about an hour later. The Coast Guard reported no pollution or injuries to crew of four.
