JUNEAU - Work crews began installing a replacement culvert in Petersburg Wednesday morning, the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities announced.
According to the Petersburg maintenance station foreman, Ted Sokol, the work took place at mile marker 10.2 of the Mitkof Highway at the Papkes Landing Road intersection. It was expected to be completed by 6 p.m.
Sokol said that replacing the culvert will improve drainage at the Papkes Landing Road site. He said that the area is lightly traveled by motorists, and the department doesn't expect any extensive traffic delays or disruptions.
