Juneau - Deadline for nominations of individuals and organizations for the Governor's Awards for the Arts and Humanities is Sept. 1. Award categories are Arts Education, Individual Artist, Arts Organization and Native Arts.
The Governor's Awards for the Humanities honors the contribution of individuals and groups that enrich the civic, intellectual, and cultural life of all Alaskans through the wisdom and techniques of the humanities. Eligibility is open to any individual, organization or institution that has made a significant contribution to the arts or humanities in Alaska, with the exception of current board members, staff or prior award recipients.
Award recipients will be selected from among nominees by the Alaska State Council on the Arts, the Alaska Humanities Forum and the Office of the Governor. Awards will be presented at the Fairbanks Riverside Princess Hotel on Thursday, Oct. 21.
