FAIRBANKS - Alaska State Troopers have identified a body found in the Yukon River outside of Eagle as a U.S. Customs agent missing since last month.
Troopers said the agent was 56-year-old Charles S. Collins. He was last seen July 13 driving a Homeland Security sport utility and told a friend in Eagle he was headed to the Poker Creek border station to work on his computer.
The truck was found two days later in O'Brien Creek as heavy rains were causing flooding in the area.
Troopers say Collins apparently missed a curve on the Taylor Highway and went down a 200-foot embankment. His remains were found August 15 at the mouth of Mission Creek, which flows into the Yukon River just downstream of the village of Eagle.
