Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

• Paul Rodriguez, 22, was arrested at 11:46 p.m. Monday near 10th Street and Egan Drive for drunken driving. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.


• About 10 CDs were reported stolen at 7:31 a.m. Monday from Haloff Way. The CDs, valued at $100, were stolen from an unlocked vehicle overnight.

• A Mitsubishi cell phone was reported stolen at 7:57 a.m. Monday from Meander Way. It was stolen from a blue Ford truck, from which a back window was removed.

• A bag containing a wallet, a checkbook and an older model Minolta camera was reported stolen from a blue Honda Accord at 8:57 a.m. Monday from Thunder Mountain Road.

• A navy blue trifold wallet was reported stolen at 9:03 a.m. Monday from an undisclosed location.

• A black canvas purse was reported stolen at 10:14 a.m. Monday from Point Louisa Road.

• A bag of quarters was reported stolen from a vehicle at 11:57 a.m. Monday from Thane Road. Two other vehicles in the area were rifled, but nothing was taken.

• A 12-volt air pump, two speakers, floor mats and a tan plastic toolbox with assorted hand tools were reported stolen at 2:59 p.m. Monday from Aspen Avenue. The items, valued at $50, were stolen from an unlocked 1994 Toyota pickup.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

• It was reported at 5:17 p.m. Monday that a covered play area near Riverside Drive had been spray-painted with graffiti before Saturday.

• A woman reported at 12:51 p.m. Monday from Mendenhall Loop Road that her 1999 Chevy Blazer had been keyed.

• A woman reported at 2:23 p.m. Monday near Glacier Highway that someone had broken into her vehicle, causing $150 in damage.

Vehicle accidents:

• A girl, 16, sustained minor injuries as a result of a three-vehicle accident at 6:34 p.m. Monday near Mendenhall Loop Road by Floyd Dryden Middle School.

A 1990 Hyundai Excel, driven by a man, 42, came to a stop at a crosswalk by Mendenhall Loop Road. A 1992 Subaru Loyalle, driven by the girl, came to a stop behind him. A third vehicle, a Chevy truck driven by a man, 24, failed to stop and hit the Subaru, which hit the Hyundai.

The girl was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital. She was released Monday night in good condition. She sustained a neck sprain, a headache and chest bruising. No one else was injured.

The 24-year-old was cited for causing an accident, and the 16-year-old was cited for driving without a valid driver's license.

The truck sustained $300 in damage, the Subaru was totaled, and the Hyundai sustained no apparent damage.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Monday at 5:09 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek and 8:35 p.m. near Gull Way. Bears were reported today at 12:30 a.m. near Martin road and 6:10 a.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek.
