Who came up with this? Split ballot offends

Letter to the editor

I was very upset being presented with a split ballot at the primary election. After the election worker explained it to me, I took my ballot and voted, even though I felt like turning around and walking out. All I could think about while voting, was, "What stupid idiot came up with this idea?"

I thought voting was a confidential matter. Right off the bat, people will know who your voting party is. I don't always vote in my party; I vote for who I think will do the best job representing Juneau. Sometimes it's a Democrat, sometimes it's a Republican and sometimes it's just the lesser of two evils. I don't like being forced to stay within my party. Once in a while, I like to color outside the lines. Where is my freedom of choice? If this is the future of voting, I, for one, will refuse to vote. That's my right as well.
