Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:


• A Kenwood stereo, various CDs and a set of Hawaiian-style seat covers were reported stolen at 8:21 a.m. Tuesday near Melrose Street.

• A CD player and a speaker were reported stolen at 11:59 a.m. Tuesday from a vehicle near Julep Street. The items are valued at $250.

Animal encounters:

• Bears were reported Tuesday at 1:09 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, 1:48 p.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek, 9:02 p.m. near Belardi Drive, 10:32 p.m. near Belardi Drive, and 11:09 p.m. near Douglas Highway.

• A bear was reported at 1:30 a.m. today near South Franklin Street.

Crime Line

Juneau Crime Line Inc. is offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest or indictment of the person or people responsible for two separate acts of vandalism and trespass at two of the city's reservoirs. On July 3 and July 13 the reservoirs at Blueberry Hill and Crow Hill, both on Douglas Island, were accessed. The gates and part of the fencing were torn down. Vehicles then drove onto the property, tearing up roadways and destroying vegetation. Estimated damage to the property was $2,000.

Trespassing at, or tampering with, a public water supply is a federal offense.
