Juneauites please stop running red lights

Posted: Tuesday, August 28, 2007

I don't know if this is a reflection of the summer's influx of young and temporary workers or a dangerous trend in the Juneau ethic, but I have noticed more than a few drivers running red lights in Juneau over the last weeks.

Sound off on the important issues at

I often cross Egan Drive at 10th Street (the bridge) as a pedestrian and, on three occasions lately, as I got ready to step off the curb after the light changed, I looked over to see a vehicle on Egan speeding toward me through the intersection against a red light.

Please, Juneau drivers, if the law is not enough to cause you to stop when you are in a hurry, please consider the pedestrian you may not see until it is too late.
