Aiding Women in Abuse and Rape Emergencies is warmer and brighter, thanks to newfound energy from the creative fundraising and event coordination of goodwill ambassador Will Muldoon and The Rendezvous' Eric Emert.
On June 6, The Rendezvous hosted "Rock Out with Your Sockets Out!," an evening of wine tasting, silent auction, raffle and music to raise funds to support some of Juneau's charities during our electricity cost surge. AWARE is grateful to receive $1,000 to help keep the lights on AWARE's mission.
Each year, thousands of women, men and children in Juneau and northern Southeast communities receive essential AWARE services: crisis intervention, referral and information, advocacy and support, counseling, training and educating, and prevention and safety planning information.
The staff, volunteers and women and children served by AWARE are inspired by and grateful for the contribution of these concerned, innovative and energized young men. Their support sends a critical message to our community to embrace a policy of zero tolerance for violence against women and children.
Will and Eric combined efforts to organize talent and sponsors whom we would also like to thank. Their participating performers were The Bastards, Sean Tracey, Sam Burrous, Lifted Embrace; and the sponsors: The Rendezvous, Alaskan Brewery, K&L Distributors, The Painted Canvas, Glacier Gardens, Wings of Alaska, Wings Airways, Gravity Plan, Choco, the Wee Fishee Shoppe, Capital Records, Shear Design, El Sombrero, The Broiler, Papa Murphy's, Chan's Thai Kitchen, Heritage Coffee Co., Shoe Fly, Alaskan Fudge Co., Taku Harley Davidson, Boheme, Southeast Furniture Warehouse, The Breakwater and Diamonds International.
Thank you all for your community awareness, your rallying response to helping others during challenging circumstances, and your generosity and fun spirit in making a time of difficulty into a celebration to help others.
