Journey to Wellness a success

The Central Council of Tlingit & Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska's Elders Caregivers Services program of the Tribal Family & Youth Services Department would like to thank local organizations and community members who contributed to the 2010 Journey to Wellness spring/summer event May 24 through Aug. 13, and the Champions Potluck Luncheon held Aug. 20 at the ANB Hall.

We had 118 Tlingit & Haida tribal members registered in this year's event. Many participants have participated significantly by your generous contributions.

Awards went to Martha Benzel for "Most Inspirational Journey Participant" and to George Finley Williams as "Healthiest Journey Participant."

Thank you to the following organizations, merchants and individuals - your support is greatly appreciated: ANB Camp 2, Sealaska Heritage Institute (donated t-shirts), Goldbelt Corporation (donated tram tickets and one night hotel stay), Tlingit-Haida Regional Housing Authority, Huna Totem, SEARHC Health Promotion, T&H Elders Caregivers Services, Bullwinkle's Pizza, Driftwood Lodge, Rodfather's Broiler Steak and Seafood, Pavitt's Health and Fitness, Twilight Cafe and the Westmark Baranof Cafe.
