Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

About 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Craig Jackson, 47, left the scene of an accident. He was then located by police officers and arrested for drunken driving. Jackson was additionally charged with reckless driving, hit-and-run, failure to report an accident and failure to give information to others involved. He was taken to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Thefts:

Shortly before 9 p.m. Wednesday, a man, 45, reported a pair of black West Marine WM 300 7x50 binoculars in a soft, black, padded nylon case stolen from his boat in Aurora Harbor.

Shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday, a woman, 27, reported a pair of diamond earrings missing from her home in the area of the Juneau Airport.

Fires:

Firefighters responded to several early morning fire alarms, all of which turned out to be false alarms -- apparently caused by the local power outage, firefighters said.

Animal encounters:

About 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a bear getting into the Dumpster belong to a business on Egan Drive.

About 8 p.m. Wednesday, police received a report of a bear on North Douglas Highway eating unsecured garbage. The caller was given better options for securing his garbage.

Shortly after midnight Wednesday, police received a report of a bear eating garbage in Switzer Village trailer park. The report was forwarded to Fish and Game officials.

Shortly before 5 a.m. today, police received a report of a bear eating unsecured garbage at Kodzoff I trailer park in the Mendenhall Valley.

About 6:30 a.m. today, police received a report of a bear eating out of a Dumpster on Great Western Street in Douglas.

Vandalism:

About 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, police arrested a man, 37, at Switzer Trailer Court for criminal mischief after he broke out the window of an occupied vehicle. He was lodged at state prison.

Other:

About 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, a woman, 51, was placed under citizen's arrest for trespassing after violating a criminal trespassing letter referring to a structure on Front Street. She was transported to and lodged at state prison. Alcohol was involved in the incident.

About 1:30 a.m. today, a man, 21, was cited on Egan Drive inbound near Mendenhall Loop Road for driving while his operator's license was suspended. He was released at the scene. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

Incidents involving alcohol: 2.

Crimeline

On July 31, the Juneau Police Department received a report of a theft from a downtown gift shop. Stolen were a gold nugget and a gold chain. The gold nugget weighs about 2 ounces and is valued in excess of $3,000. The chain is 24 inches long, 14 kt gold with an anchor; it is valued at about $889.
