Why is everyone down on the police for doing their job? Why don't they call the assembly and find out why they made a law that foolish to begin with?

I've decided to start a tour guide company and one of my top attractions will be to show tourists salmon in the streams. My method will be holding tourists' heads under the water so that they can view the fish.

I'm sure you have seen the logos on the tour shop bags that say Alaska to go. Is there anyone else that finds those offensive?

The community has just learned of pollution at over 100,000 times the legal limit coming from cruise ships. Is our community, our quality of life for sale no matter what happens to our environment?

I am a life-long, born-and-raised Juneau resident and I would like to know what the people of Juneau have against the tourists. For my job - and I don't work with the tourists - I'm downtown almost every day walking around the tourists. They're nice people. Juneau needs to get off its high horse.

To the person who expressed concern about their sixth-grader using a computer in math class, my son is in the eighth grade and still cannot multiply a complicated number without a computer. The teachers think you're behind the times if you want your kid to know how to multiply before using some type of aid.

I recently paid $1.62.9 a gallon for diesel. My service station bought that same gallon of fuel from the distributor for 82 cents a gallon. The price of regular at our service station is $1.79.9. Our service station pays $1.10 for that same gallon of fuel. It's a good thing that other merchants don't have such high mark-ups or we would not be able to live here.

I agree with the caller who said raising the price for dog tags is discriminatory. My dog is tagged. There's cats running all over my neighborhood with no collars, no tags, no nothing.

I can't understand why the Empire would put anybody's complaints about the coating on the cars on the front page. The highway department and Secon are doing a great job. Sure, there's going to be a little dirt.

The people who complain about getting tar on their vehicles should pay attention to the signs, not enter the work zones or turn lanes that are posted as being closed. Then they wouldn't have the stuff on their vehicles.

I can't believe people are more concerned about the appearance of their vehicle than a safe roadway.

Ex-President Carter gave away the Panama Canal. I'm glad Knowles wrote him a nasty letter.

I was at Floyd Dryden Middle School this morning and I listened to students reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, including under God. And I saw the principal walking around with a prominent silver cross around her neck and I just wonder where the separation of church and state has gone.

Having a tax cap in Alaska is a fallacy because municipalities can raise property values to superficial levels.

Summertime non-residents get a $4 million campground renovation at Mendenhall Lake by the U.S. Forest Service but residents who are year-round visitors to the Forest Service Eagle River rec site can't get a grader for the entrance road.
