George and Judy Franklet will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary on Sept. 2. A small family gathering is planned at the couple's home.
They were married at 8 p.m. on Sept. 2, 1961, in a double-ring ceremony in Memorial Presbyterian Church in Juneau. The Rev. Walter Soboleff officiated and wedding music was provided by Janet Soboleff at the organ.
The maid of honor was the bride's sister, Evelyn Peters. The bridesmaid was Shirley Sutton.
Carl Nelson was best man. Ushers were Ronald Laiti and Andrew Sutton.
Kristie Ann Sutton was the flower girl.
Following the ceremony, friends and relatives gathered at Wagoner Hall for the reception.
The newlyweds traveled to Fairbanks via the Alaska Highway where both continued their studies at the University of Alaska.
The couple have made Juneau their home since 1962 and have raised three children here: daughters Konnay and Janae, and son George.
