Sitka High School quarterback Travis Bradshaw threw for 319 yards and five touchdowns Thursday afternoon as the Wolves came from behind to beat the Anchorage Christian Schools Lions 38-25 in a Greatland Conference game at Anchorage Football Stadium.
The Wolves trailed 18-0 in the second quarter when Sitka took to the air. When Sitka was done, senior wide receiver Elgin Hollins had caught seven passes for 159 yards and two touchdowns, while junior Karel Uddipa had two catches for 90 yards and two touchdowns. Dalton Bergman also caught a touchdown pass for Sitka (2-2 overall, 1-1 in the GLC).
Anchorage Christian Schools had two backs run for more than 100 yards each -- Bobby Dunbar with 16 carries for 153 yards a touchdown, while Daniel McCarty ran 17 times for 106 yards and a touchdown. But once the Wolves went airborne the Lions fell.
ACS scored on its first three possessions as Joe Butler scored on a 9-yard run, Todd Alden added a 2-yard score and Dunbar scored on an 84-yard scamper. But Bradshaw hit Uddipa with a 20-yard touchdown pass and then hit Hollins with a 51-yard scoring strike to make it 18-14 ACS at halftime.
In the third quarter, Sitka took a 22-18 lead as Bradshaw hit Hollins with a 31-yard scoring pass, but ACS regained the lead, 25-22, as McCarty scored on a 12-yard run. In the fourth quarter Sitka took the lead for good when Bradshaw hit Bergman with a 15-yard pass to make it 30-25, then added an insurance score as Bradshaw completed a 70-yard scoring strike to Uddipa with just over nine minutes left to play. The last three ACS drives ended with a lost fumble, an interception and a sack on the game's final play.
