Former Juneau resident Darren Lane Sanders, 43, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, in an Asheville, N.C., hospital.
He was a native of Macon County, N.C., a son of Rev. Ernie Sanders of Franklin, N.C., and the late Virginia McCall. He was an electrician for Sandco Inc. and was a Baptist by faith. He had received an associates arts degree in paralegal studies at the University of Alaska Southeast, graduating with honors.
He is survived by his father; step-mother, Nellie Sanders, of Franklin, N.C.; daughters, April Sanders of Franklin, N.C., Breanna Sanders of Whiteville, N.C., and Savannah Sanders of Franklin, N.C.; son, Daniel Sanders of Franklin, N.C.; brothers, Vic (Gina) Sanders of Franklin, N.C., and Vance (Rachel) Sanders of Juneau; step-brother, Gary (Evelyn) Owens; grandparents, Rev. James A. Sanders and Fannie Sanders of Franklin, N.C.; granddaughter, Brooklyn Hoagland of Franklin, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Steve Sellers, Scott Stamey, Steve Sanders, Bo McGaha, Ricky Mason, Gary Green, Logan Sanders and Jeff McConnell.
Funeral services took place Friday, Aug. 27, in the Chapel of Bryant Funeral Home in Franklin, N.C., with Rev. Don Moffitt officiating. Burial was at Woodlawn Cemetery.
