Power-skating, stick-handling camp - The Juneau Douglas Ice Association will host Kim Muir, skating instructor for the Detroit Red Wings, along with two of her instructors, in a four-day power-skating and stick-handling camp for kids and adults Sept. 2-5 at the Treadwell Arena.
Stick-handling will be taught by Muir's instructors. According to Muir, her clinics are designed for travel hockey players only. Because there are various circumstances that prevent you from playing at this caliber, my requirements are for you to be able to perform 1) hockey stop on both sides and 2) backwards cross-overs. This requirement applies to mites too.

Juneau Youth Wrestling Tornados Wade Schalles Clinic - Juneau Youth Wrestling will offer a Tornados Wade Schalles Clinic for ages 8 to adult Sept. 7-10 at the Gymnastics Academy. There will be two clinic sessions on Sept. 7, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m., and evening sessions Sept. 8-10, 6:15-8:30 p.m. A one-time fee of $20 is payable at the door. MMA are welcome. Schalles is in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the most wins and pins of anyone who has ever wrestled. He is an outstanding clinician and motivational speaker. Capital City Soccer League - The Capital City Soccer League will be hosting a number of leagues this season:
Men's Competitive League - This division runs June through September and is for experienced players ages 15 and up. Teams are sponsored by local businesses and there will be no draft this year.
Women's Competitive League- This league runs August through September and is for experienced players ages 15 and up. Sponsor fee is $400 and player fee is $40.
Co-ed Masters - This is a pick-up league for players over 30. Experience varies. Games are played September through October. Fee is $20 and referees are not provided. Spring games will be played at the turf field by Juneau-Douglas High School.
Classic Women's League - This league is for new women players and experienced players who do not want to play in a competitive league. Games run from June to September. This is a great league for players who have never played before but want to learn. Fee is $50. For players ages 15 and up.
7-a-side Tournament - The annual 7-a-side tourney will take place in Juneau. This double-elimination tourney features 30-minute games. Individuals are placed randomly on teams with at least three members of each gender. Participation is open to players 16 and up of all skill levels. Games are at Adair-Kennedy Memorial Park.

High school tennis team - High school students are invited to come out for tennis. All levels - beginners through tournament players - welcome. Practice will be Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at JRC The Alaska Club until school starts. High school swim, dive - The Juneau-Douglas High School swim team will practice at 3 p.m. Monday-Friday, and the dive team will practice at 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday at the Augustus Brown Swimming Pool. JDHS turf field available - The turf field by Juneau-Douglas High School is available for community use. The charge for reserving the field is $5 per hour for nonprofit youth groups, $10 per hour for nonprofit adult groups and $15 per hour for all other groups. Treadwell Ice Arena open - With a limited weekly schedule, the arena is open Wednesday-Sunday and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Open skating, pond hockey and Stick N' Puck times will be offered. Fees vary based on skating session. Open skate is $4 adults, $3 youth. Skate rental is $2. Pond hockey and Stick N' Puck are $5 adults and $4 youth. Full hockey gear required. Private hourly ice rental is available for a special August-only rate of $125. Adult Learn to Play (full gear required) on Sundays, Aug. 17, 24 and 31, and Sept. 7. Fees are $42. Parent/tot open skate and skating lessons are on Thursdays, Aug. 21 and 28. Cost is $25 for two weeks or $15 to drop in. Tuesday Night Best Ball Golf League - This fun golf competition is for men and women of all skills. Every person is selected to a team to compete for points in a best-ball format. Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19 and older. Juneau Department of Parks and Recreation Wednesday and Saturday hikes - For updates on locations of Wednesday and Saturday group hikes, call the Juneau Parks and Rec Hikes Hotline. Bring plenty of food and water, and wear warm layers of clothing and proper footwear for the hike. No dogs or firearms allowed. Wednesday hikes are limited to hikers 18 years of age or older. Mount Jumbo Gym rentals - Beginning Aug. 18, Parks and Recreation will accept reservations for rentals of the Mount Jumbo Gym. The gym will be open for rental from Sept. 2 to Dec. 30.
