Woman pleads not guilty in crash deaths

Posted: Monday, August 31, 2009

ANCHORAGE - A woman blamed for a head-on collision that killed two people on the Seward Highway pleaded not guilty to manslaughter and reckless driving charges.

Prosecutors say 24-year-old Danielle Nicole Jennett had anti-anxiety medication and alcohol in her system at the time of the crash on July of 2008.

She declined to comment to The Anchorage Daily News after Thursday's arraignment.

Her lawyer, Paul Stockler, said her blood alcohol level of .025 is well below the legal limit for a drunken driving charge, and the pills were prescribed for Jennett.

The crash killed a passenger in her car, 23-year-old Riley McVitty, and the other driver, 42-year-old Jeffrey McClure of Seward.
