Palmer boy is cabbage king again

ANCHORAGE - Nine-year-old Seth Dinkel edged nurseryman Scott Robb with a repeat win Friday in the Seventh Annual Giant Cabbage Weigh-off at the Alaska State Fair.
Dinkel's 89.9-pound winner will tuck another $2,000 into the boy's college fund. Robb took a $1,000 second-prize for his 85.6-pound cabbage.
Earlier in the week, Robb set new state records with a 68.55-pound watermelon and a monstrous 47.85-pound cantaloupe, 20 pounds larger than the previous state record, which he also held.
Brenna Dinkel, 7, also of Palmer, took the $500 third-prize with a 74.3-pound cabbage.
