JUNEAU - The Green Party of Alaska will be able to put its new candidate for governor on the Nov. 5 general election ballot.
Party officials on Friday announced Desa Jacobsson had left the ticket because she needed to spend more time on family matters. Green Party lieutenant governor candidate Diane Benson was expected to become the new gubernatorial nominee.
State Elections Division Director Janet Kowalski said Friday that the party had plenty of time to get a new name on the ballot. The party is expected to petition for the change soon. Paperwork must be taken care of by mid-September, Kowalski said.
