Mary Ellen Hymer and James Joseph DeVincent were married June 26, 2004, at the Mendenhall Glacier Pavilion. A reception for family and friends followed at the Moose Family Lodge in Juneau.
The bride is the daughter of Edward and Gloria McDermott (deceased) of New York City. She has lived in Alaska for the past 25 years and is a graduate of the University of Alaska Southeast. She is employed by the state of Alaska Department of Law in Juneau as the contracting officer.
The groom is the son of Chester and Mary DeVincent of Cary, N.C. He is employed by the state of Alaska, and arrived in Juneau in 1990.
The matron of honor was the sister of the bride, Gloria Jean Merry. The bride's brother, Raymond, gave her away and her nephew TJ Merry organized a quartet to play instrumental music for the ceremony. The best man was the bride's brother-in-law, Kendall Merry. In attendance were Wayne and Cindy Merry and Scott Merry in addition to many other friends of the bride and groom.
The newlyweds spent their honeymoon in Orlando, Fla., and will continue to make their home in Juneau until they retire to their other home on the Big Island of Hawaii.
