One good thing in recent news

Letter to the editor

Today's Empire was full of terrible news: New Orleans is uninhabitable and Biloxi and Gulfport have been smashed flat - the death toll may reach thousands; the price of gasoline is topping $3 a gallon; nearly 13 percent of the richest country on Earth is in poverty ($19,000 a year for a family of four); nearly 46 million citizens are without health insurance; Iraqis are still working on their constitution with help from the Bush administration; and U.S. warplanes bombed al-Qaida targets near Syria.

The good news? Our president cut his vacation short to attend to the hurricane disaster. I sure feel better knowing he's back in Washington.
