Blooming skunk cabbages, Southeast beaches and the rushing glow of Ebner Falls served as inspiration for Juneau artist Jim Fowler this summer.
Fowler, a painter and book illustrator, will show recent works at a new exhibit opening Friday at Portfolio Arts. A reception will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the South Franklin Street gallery.
Fowler will display 15 or 16 new paintings, landscapes and still life subjects in acrylic on paper.
"Pretty much, these are all local scenes - out around the glacier, Perseverance Trail, Mount Juneau, and about five (are) small studies from different beaches around here," Fowler said.
He has worked as a professional artist for 25 years in Juneau. The exhibit will be on display through Sept. 17.
