Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:
Driving while intoxicated:
About 10:30 p.m. Friday, police received a report of a suspicious vehicle on Glacier Highway. They arrested Michael Lewis, 38, for drunken driving. He was lodged at Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
About 1:15 a.m. Saturday, Juneau Citizen's Patrol reported a possible drunken driver on Ferry Way. A girl, 12, was arrested for operating a vehicle after minor consuming of alcohol, and a girl, 14, was cited for minor consuming of alcohol. There was also a boy, 19, in the vehicle. The vehicle was impounded.
Shortly before 2 a.m. Saturday, Jeffrey Allen Smith, 36, was arrested at a trailer court on Mendenhall Loop Road for drunken driving, for driving with a blood-alcohol level over 0.10 percent, after a police officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle. Smith was lodged at state prison. His vehicle was released to a friend.
About 2 p.m. Friday, a boy, 16, was arrested in the Lemon Creek area for domestic violence assault and lodged at state prison. He was additionally charged with harassment.
About 11:30 p.m. Friday, a man, 62, was cited for reckless endangerment on Egan Drive after grabbing at a taxi driver and placing him at risk for having an auto accident. Alcohol was involved.
About 9:30 a.m. Friday, a man, 28, reported the theft of a brown backpack from a bench at Cope Park.
About 2:30 p.m. Friday, a woman, 26, was placed under citizen's arrest for concealment of merchandise/shoplifting in Lemon Creek.
About 1:15 p.m. Friday, police retrieved a cosmetic bag that had been turned in to security at the State Office Building.
Vandalism and criminal mischief:
About 8:30 a.m. Friday, police placed a man, 38, under arrested on West Ninth Street for criminal mischief after breaking out a window. He was transported to and lodged at state prison.
About 4:30 a.m. Saturday, William Pittman, 18, was cited for minor consuming and for driving while in a non-compliant status on Nowell Avenue. A man, 20, was cited for minor consuming. The 18-year-old was released at the scene. The vehicle was released to a licensed driver who responded to the scene.
Downtown firefighters responded shortly after 4 p.m. Friday to a report of a fire at the Juneau-Douglas High School. It was a small fire, quickly extinguished, firefighters said.
About 5:15 a.m. Saturday, a woman, 34, was arrested for criminal trespassing on Stephen Richards Memorial Drive and for disorderly conduct. The suspect refused to leave the residence of a woman, 27. Alcohol was involved in the incident.
About 6 p.m. Friday, a caller reported to police that there was a bear in a yard on Taku Boulevard.
About 8 p.m. Friday, a caller reported a non-aggressive bear in the area of Thunder Mountain Mobile Park.
About 5:15 a.m. Saturday, police received a report of a bear eating garbage on Dudley Street in the Mendenhall Valley.
Shortly after midnight, police received a report of a large black bear in Evergreen Cemetery.
At 5:30 a.m. and again at 6 a.m., police received a report of a bear on Marilyn Avenue.
About 3 a.m. Saturday, a man, 28, was arrested on Whittier Street on an outstanding Juneau Alaska State trooper warrant of $1,000 issued for failure to appear for arraignment on a probation violation charge. He was lodged at state prison. Alcohol was involved.
Saturday afternoon, the Alaska State Troopers detachment in Ketchikan dispatched a private helicopter to medevac a patient from the Dawn Princess. The cruise ship requested help for a passenger, and unloaded the passenger at Bartlett Cove in Glacier Bay. Bartlett Cove is 50 miles northwest of Juneau. Other details were not available.
