is a great privilege to live in a free country where individuals have the right and the civic responsibility to vote. I was dismayed when I went to cast my vote in last week's primary election; it was a thoroughly confusing process. The solution is simple: If we want to have more people participate in the democratic process of voting, we need to make the process as simple as possible.
The closed primary will contribute to confusion and lower turnout. This is something none of us want. Let's work to returning primary elections to an open process where the electorate is free to vote for the best candidate, no matter what their party affiliation.
