JUNEAU - A brief power outage hit several parts of Juneau Wednesday in conjunction with tying in Alaska Electric Light & Power's new Lake Dorothy Hydroelectric Project to the city system, said Gayle Wood, company spokesperson.
The outages began at about 2:22 p.m., with restoration beginning within six minutes, she said. Most customers were reconnected within 15 minutes and the final few within 25 minutes, she said.
Electric feeder lines began tripping off-line after they lost generation, cutting power to several neighborhoods. The system automatically matches the city's demand with the resources available, Wood said.
