Forest Explorers to study grasses, sedges, rushes

JUNEAU - Forest Explorers groups will learn how to recognize the differences between th various types of sedges, grasses and rushes growing in the Mendenhall Glacier area at 11 a.m., Saturday.

Organizers are inviting children, ages 4-6, their parents and/or caregivers to take advantage of this free opportunity to explore nature with Forest Service staff.

Meet at the Pavilion and dress for the weather. Mendenhall Glacier Summer Forest Explorer Programs continue this weekend and every Saturday through Sept. 25. For more information, contact the visitor center at 789-0097.
