Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Driving while intoxicated:

Mark Weiss, 45, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. Saturday near Switzer Village for drunken driving. He was transported to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center. His vehicle was released to a licensed driver.

David McKee Haynes II, 33, was arrested at 8:06 p.m. Monday near Glacier Highway for drunken driving and misdemeanor misconduct involving a weapon. He was lodged at the state prison.


A man reported at 9:36 a.m. Monday near James Boulevard that his green 21-speed Trek mountain bike was stolen sometime Sunday night.

A man reported at 8:31 a.m. Saturday near Mendenhall Peninsula Road his vehicle was rifled and small antique metal soldiers were stolen.

A woman reported at 12:27 p.m. Saturday near Mendenhall Peninsula Road her vehicle was rifled between 12:45 a.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday. Loose change, a purse with cash and her ID were stolen.

Police responded to a report from a woman at 1:21 p.m. Saturday near Fritz Cove who said her CD case with 40 CDs and an ashtray with loose change were stolen from her vehicle sometime during the night.

Vandalism and criminal mischief:

Police responded to a report at 12:59 p.m. Monday near Foster Avenue from a man who said he saw damage to a vehicle from juveniles throwing rocks. Police contacted the juvenile's parents who were to contact the vehicle's owner about damages.

A business co-owner reported at 10 a.m. Saturday near South Franklin Street that a sign in front of the business had been torn down.

Police responded to a report at 10:18 a.m. Sunday near Mendenhall Mall Road that a water hose was inserted into a kitchen vent and the water turned on. There was water damage that was cleaned up.

Animal encounters:

Bears were reported on Saturday at 10:56 a.m. near Threadneedle Street, 11:45 a.m. near Glacier Highway, 12:12 p.m. and 9:52 p.m. near Glendale Street, 9:11 p.m. near Cedar Park, 11 p.m. near Chatham Drive and 11:57 p.m. near Turn Street.

Bears were reported Sunday at 2:37 a.m. near Chatham Drive, 5:40 a.m. near John Street, 8:05 p.m. near Glendale Street, 8:12 p.m. near Poplar Avenue, 8:37 p.m. near Teel Court, 10:41 p.m. and 10:53 p.m. near Stephen Richards Memorial Drive, 11:29 p.m. near Turn Street and 11:40 p.m. near Sprucewood.

Bears were reported Monday at 12 a.m. near Long Run Drive, 12:06 a.m. near Stephen Richards Memorial Drive, 6:01 p.m. near Columbia Street, 6:54 p.m. near the Auke Bay Post Office, 7:37 p.m. near Mendenhall Loop Road, 8:45 p.m. near Teel Court, 9:18 p.m. near Glacier Highway and 9:26 p.m. near Glacier Highway.

Bears were reported today at 1:26 a.m. near Kanat'a Street and 6:26 a.m. near Kodzoff Street.


Police cited a man, 39, at 2:04 p.m. Saturday at the Lucky Lady for being drunk on a licensed premise. He was released at the scene.
