Housing First seeks board members

JUNEAU - Housing First Inc., a nonprofit housing organization devoted to providing affordable housing options to Juneau residents, is seeking qualified and committed individuals interested in joining its working board of directors. Individuals with skills and experience not limited to but including banking, real estate, social services, law, finance and being in need of affordable housing should apply.

At least one third of the members of the board are required to make no more than the income limits listed below.

HOME Opportunity Program (HOP), a loan program offering assistance for down payment and closing costs for qualified home buyers is scheduled to end its application period in October 2008, or until funds are committed. The program is intended to help income qualified individuals and families purchase homes, and $250,000 is still available in Juneau, allowing up to $30,000 per household depending on availability and need. These loans are interest-free and partially forgivable depending upon the length of time a home buyer remains in the home.

The 2008 income limits for the city of Juneau are as follows: $43,050 for 1 person, $49,200 for two people, $55,350 for three people, $61,500 for four people, $66,400 for five people, $71,350 for six people, $76,250 for seven people and $81,200 for eight people.
