Presentations

Anne Wilkes Tucker, slide show and free public lecture on photography by curator of photography at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at the Alaska State Museum. Tucker is the juror of the Alaska Positive 2002 exhibit.

Openings

"Whipple Art," recent paintings by Charles Whipple, oils and large canvases, opening reception 4:30-6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Juneau Arts and Humanities Council gallery, exhibit through September.

Exhibits

"Dancing the Ice Worm Wiggle: Recreation, Entertainment and Amusements of Early Juneau," and "Cruising the Inside Passage," summer exhibit of tourism memorabilia from 1930s and '50s, at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum through September. Hours: 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. weekends.

Eleventh Annual Beaded Bag show, at Spirit Beads, through September, hours noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

Sealaska Juried Art Show, 18 pieces of art by Alaska Native artists, glass sculpture, fiber arts, regalia, beadwork, basketry and carving at the Alaska State Museum, through September.

"Tenacity: Sam Kimura Retrospective," about 65 large-format black-and-white photographs (and variety of other photographic styles) by Alaska photographer.

"Arctic: Robert Glenn Ketchum photographs," large color photographs of the Arctic, closes Sept. 14, Alaska State Museum. State museum hours: 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. daily, $5 admission.

Ford James, trio with guests do jazz standards, 9 p.m.-midnight Friday and Saturday night, Sept. 6 and 7, open mike Thursdays, at The Alaskan Bar, no cover.

Bradley Riggins, guitarist, singer, piano and fiddle player doing country, western and popular music, 8 p.m.-midnight Tuesday-Friday nights, Northern Pacific, pop and country, Saturday nights at Henry's Food and Spirits, no cover, through September.

Open Mike, every Saturday, sign up 7:30 p.m., performances 8 p.m.-midnight, music, poetry, art, Schooner's Espresso and Coffeehouse, Mendenhall Center.

Karaoke 9 p.m.-12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights at the Rendezvous.

Monkeywrench, Vancouver, B.C., rock band, Thursdays-Saturday evenings, through September, $2 cover Friday and Saturday nights only, karaoke on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, no cover, solo singer and acoustic guitarist Norm Gordon of Monkeywrench 9 p.m. every Monday, no cover, at Marlintini's Lounge.
