Central Council of Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska's Elders and Caregivers Services program and T&H Elderly Caregivers Council would like to thank the local organizations and merchants who contributed to the "Emma Widmark 2008 Journey to Wellness" events from May 15 to Aug. 22.
Organizations were: Alaska Native Brotherhood Camp 2, CCTHITA Office of the President, Goldbelt Corp., Huna Totem, Sealaska Corp. and T&H Regional Housing Authority.
Merchants were: Cornerstone Home Health, Driftwood Lodge, McDonald's, Rejuvenation Salon & Spa, Southeast Alaska Medical Supplies, Taku Smokery/Fisheries (for 50 pounds of salmon), The Broiler, The Baranof, Wings of Alaska and Wells Fargo Bank.
The excellent volunteers who made it possible to provide this successful wellness event in Juneau were as follows: Emma Widmark, THECC member; Connie Munro, THECC member; Myrna Brown and Laura Sheldon, CCTHITA staff; Jackie Johnson and Kendra Sheldon, volunteers; Ernie Williams, ANB cook; Andy Ebona, celebration dinner emcee and judge for "Best Written & Oral Testimonies"; Laird Jones, T&H staff, cameraman and judge for "Best Written & Oral Testimonies"; Debra O'Gara, CCTHITA staff and judge for "Best Recipes"; and Nora Dauenhauer, THECC member and judge for "Best Recipes."
