Nearly 450 folks gathered together for the "Beat the Odds" race/walk event held on Aug. 28 at Riverbend School. It was a great turnout and we thank all the walkers and runners who participated.

An event such as this had the help of many, many volunteers and we thank those special folks from Glacier Valley Rotary, Southeast Roadrunners, Cancer Connection board members, Community Schools, RE/MAX, The Grind Coffee Co., Phil Paramore, Shannon West, Barbara Griffin and other individuals who stepped in where help was needed.
Funds raised from this event stay right here in Southeast Alaska, giving assistance to those dealing with cancer and their families. We also sponsor education programs and awareness events with the intent of prevention and early detection of cancer.
