Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:
Thefts:
A diamond ring, valued cat $90, was reported stolen at 12:01 p.m. Thursday from Foster Avenue.
Vehicle accidents:
No one was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 8:52 a.m. Thursday near Egan Drive and Mendenhall Loop Road.
A 1995 Ford pickup truck, driven by a man, 51, turned left from Egan Drive inbound and ran the red turn arrow. At the same time a brand-new 2003 Toyota pickup truck, driven by a man, 46, was traveling Egan outbound on a green light.
The Toyota struck the right rear of the Ford. The Ford sustained $4,000 in damage and the Toyota sustained $25,000 in damage and was considered totaled. The Ford driver was cited for negligent driving.
Animal encounters:
Bears were reported Thursday at 6:46 p.m. near Douglas Highway, 6:49 p.m. near Douglas Highway, 9:33 p.m. near Muir Street, 10:51 p.m. near Deborah Street, and 11:56 p.m. near Gull Way.
Other:
Police arrested Leonard Siefert, 20, at 12:44 a.m. today near Sunset Drive on charges of felony failure to stop at the direction of a police officer and the misdemeanors of reckless driving, reckless endangerment and driving without a valid driver's license.
When police attempted to stop a black Camaro traveling about 68 mph on Egan Drive outbound, the driver led police on a 70-mph chase onto Glacier Highway and Del Rae Road. The vehicle stopped on Sunset Drive. Siefert, the driver, was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
