Hunters offer reward to catch swan shooter

ANCHORAGE - Four bowhunting groups are offering rewards for information leading to the arrest of the person who shot a trumpeter swan on Tern Lake last week.

The groups, including the Alaskan Bowhunters Association, have offered between $500 and $1,000.

It's illegal under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act to harm trumpeter swans.

The 23-pound swan is recovering and swimming on Tern Lake in the Chugach National Forest after wildlife officials removed the arrow from the bird.
