Friendship Quilts

Posted: Friday, September 07, 2007

The Friendship Quilt, finished in summer 1983, was dedicated in May 1983 to Rosemary Quast, former Juneau School District nurse, who moved to Oregon in 1983 when her husband retired from Auke Bay Laboratory. Inspired by Quast's close friend, Sylvia Gard, and completed under the guidance of Mary Lou King, the Friendship Quilt comprises 49 hand-sewn squares done by Quast's various friends in the community. The quilt now resides in the Juneau Pioneer's Home.
