JUNEAU - A Juneau Assembly committee is accepting public comment Monday about a new panel that will oversee tourism planning in Juneau.
The Assembly's Human Resources Committee is evaluating ideas for a panel that will implement a new long-range tourism plan and lead community discussions about tourism issues.
Current proposals call for a Juneau Tourism Partnership with equal community and industry representation, a Juneau Tourism Network made up of existing city boards, departments and neighborhood associations, or a combination of the two.
Mayor Sally Smith said the Assembly is looking for consensus, rather than conflict. One of the goals will be to find people who are willing to listen to different viewpoints and work out solutions, she said last month.
The meeting starts at 6 p.m. Monday in Assembly chambers.
