Be heard

Letter to the editor

Posted: Wednesday, September 08, 2004

I am in mourning today for all of the children and innocents that have been used by people in power and terrorists throughout history, including the hostage situation in Russia. Only a coward would use people as leverage to make a point. People are not objects to be used and destroyed.

I am also outraged by the idea that another person can tell me that, as a woman, I will have to abide by what they say regarding my own body and my life choice to be married or single. Sadly, people do not speak out as much as they should about the injustices of the world. The first step to changing something in your own life, in your community, in the world, is to voice your opinion. I urge everyone to vote in November. If you don't make your voice heard, you cannot be upset when the results are not to your liking. Please, speak out in any way you can. It takes time and effort, but it has to be worth it, unless we want the world and its inhabitants to keep being used and destroyed.

I will keep striving to make my voice heard because I want to know I've done everything I can to make this world better.
