Clothing outlet store opening in Lemon Cr.
When North Star Outlet opens next week, Juneau will have its first clothing outlet store that offers name brands such as Eddie Bauer, Old Navy and Ann Taylor.
Located across from Costco in the Lemon Creek Valley, the outlet store will stock women's and children's clothing in its 900-square-foot shop. Owner Tonya Mauldin plans to sell men's clothing on the weekends later this year.
Mauldin orders clothes from well-known department stores Nordstrom's, Macy's and Bloomingdale's. The inventory is discounted between 30 percent and 80 percent off the rack price at those stores, she said.
The store will have a different inventory each time a shipment arrives. The store can also place special orders.
Chamber looking for citizen of the year
The Juneau Chamber of Commerce is asking for nominations for the organization's "Juneau Citizen of the Year" award.
Interested people should describe in the nomination form why the person deserves the honor. The chamber suggests attaching news articles and letters of support to the nomination if available.
The nominator's contact information should also be on the form. The deadline for submissions is Sept. 23.
Recipients in the past were chosen based on how they contributed to the welfare and reputation of the community. They do not have to be members of the chamber or own a business in Juneau.
The citizen of the year will be announced during the chamber's annual dinner Oct. 28 at Centennial Hall.
Letters can be sent to Juneau Chamber of Commerce, 3100 Channel Dr., Suite 300, Juneau, AK, 99801, or faxed to 463-3489 or e-mailed to email@example.com.
