FAIRBANKS - Two men charged with stealing guns from a police officer's private car last year pleaded guilty to a federal firearms theft charge in U.S. District Court on Friday.

Benjamin Isaac Skinner, 22, and Michael Sackinger, 19, were arrested on a warrant issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and indicted last May. Skinner also pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Sackinger was charged with serving as a lookout while Skinner broke into the officer's vehicle, parked at his home. They stole two rifles, three handguns and a silencer. ATF agent Donald Gillispie said the men planned to sell the guns. They are to be sentenced in November.
