JUNEAU - Assembly candidate Julie Morris has withdrawn from the Oct. 4 election, leaving three people competing for the at-large seat currently held by Deputy Mayor Marc Wheeler.
Morris, a member of the Juneau School Board, said she decided to wait for another year until she finishes her term on the School Board.
"I am very committed to the School Board and Juneau's children," Morris said. "I would like to see the high school project be well on its way."
Morris is the second candidate that dropped out of the race for the at-large seat. Joe Rafferty, a north Douglas engineer, withdrew from the race on Aug. 30.
The three candidates for Wheeler's seat are Mara Early, chairwoman of Juneau Coalition for Youth; David Summers, outgoing president of Juneau Chamber of Commerce; and Bob Doll, former director of the ferry system.
