JUNEAU - South Carolina Sen. Jim DeMint is endorsing Alaska Senate hopeful Joe Miller and pledging to raise money for the fellow Republican.
DeMint says Miller pulled "the upset victory of the year," in defeating U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski last month by running on principles. Miller has fashioned himself a "constitutional conservative," touting the need to reign in the federal government.
DeMint says the PAC he chairs, the Senate Conservatives Fund, will immediately start raising money for Miller, whose supporters also include Sarah Palin and Tea Party Express.
Murkowski conceded the race last week but says she's receiving an outpouring of support from Alaskans wanting her to stay in the race, and that she's giving that option "considered thought."
