Bruce Scandling belittles the mayoral election by calling it a "no-brainer." He suggests that people vote for his candidate without giving any thought to the consequences. Juneau cannot afford another election decided by brainless party loyalty.
Both mayoral candidates are nice people, but nice is not enough. The mayor needs to comfortably and effectively interact with our congressional delegation, state administration and out-of-town legislators. Dick Knapp is the only candidate who has those abilities.
Juneau's elected officials have such little faith in their own influence that they spend more than $150,000 a year on lobbyists to do what they claim they will do if we elect them. They spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on studies when what we need is leadership. Dick Knapp has a wealth of leadership experience and is best qualified to serve as Juneau's mayor. Support Knapp, the thinking people's candidate.
