... for supporting our team
The Juneau Soccer Club's Xtratuffs under-15 girls team finished another successful soccer season, having participated in an exchange tournament in Whitehorse, U.S. Soccer Regional Championships in Spokane, Wash., and the Alaska State Cup tournament in Anchorage in early August, where the two-time defending champs again medalled, bringing home a silver as runner up. Special thanks to Valley Dominos for their continued support; Fred Meyer, Food Services of America, Northern Sales and Costco for their support of the team's food booth fund-raiser at the Armory; Carson-Dorn Engineering, Juneau Brass & Winds, Wells Fargo Financial and Chatham Electric; parent coaches Tom Rutecki and Amy Skilbred; and Colin Barton for his coaching expertise. Thanks to all who bought ads or raffle tickets in the Juneau Soccer Club's annual fund-raiser, as a significant portion of these earnings flow directly to the teams to fund travel expenses.
... to football board members
I have recently been privileged to serve as a Juneau Youth Football League board member. During this short period, I have recognized this dedicated group of people to be hard working and committed to supporting the youth in our community. They give countless hours of their time unselfishly, to the benefit of our children and all Juneauites in general.
At meetings the board works though concerns and problems, striving to find fair solutions as well as consider new ideas on improving the organization. Although the job is a thankless one, I encourage you to join me in showing our gratitude. A kind word or a hot cup of coffee on the field would go far toward doing this. (Board members wear the red coats on the field.) They are not compensated in any other way, and oftentimes the fruit of their labor comes to view many years later in the development of our youth.
In my past experience coaching, I received many thanks and recognition from players, parents, spectators and board members without fully appreciating the board's contribution in making this such a successful program.
As a parent and fellow board member, I want to recognize: Karen, Marilyn, James, Joe, Lorice, Becky, Peter, Ted, Leitoni, Dave, Amy, Tom, Robyn and Raquel, and give a big thank you, and God bless you.

... for supporting gym
We would like to take this opportunity to thank our friends and members for all their support of Juneau's No. 1 Gym (now Fitness Essentials) located at 1248 Glacier Ave. A very "special" thanks to Tyson and Pam Carey, Mike and Shane Paddock, Deb Stokes, Sean Beck and Tom Smalley for their tireless efforts during the Labor Day weekend, preparing Fitness Essentials for its grand opening day on Sept. 8. You all did a beautiful job, which will certainly be greatly appreciated by the entire community.
Yours in good health,
Bill and Laurie Willard
