Amazed at how communities gathered to honor officers

Posted: Friday, September 10, 2010

Although I am not related to the slain Hoonah officers, I am so touched and amazed at how the communities came together to honor them and their families.

As an Alaska Marine Highway System employee, I am very proud of the quality customer service that Juneau reservations and the Auke Bay Terminal provided to the passengers, police officers and state troopers. Furthermore, it was very heartwarming to see the ferry Malaspina be a part of the procession, transporting all the friends and family to Hoonah.

My sincere condolences go out to the families and community who lost two great men. I am only sorry I never had the honor of meeting them. This is just another moment in time that makes me proud to be part of the Alaska community.
